Liberty Electric Cars has received an award of funding from the Technology Strategy Board to develop a rare earth free electric vehicle motor technology. The project “MOTORE” (Motors for Transport Omitting Rare Earths) will provide a sustainable and affordable solution for EV motor production that is central to meeting the future demand for widespread electrification of road vehicles, as well as supporting the Government’s low carbon strategy.

2011-06-29: Liberty Electric Cars pioneers the 2nd generation of EVs — The world’s First Pure Electric, Luxury 4x4, the Liberty E-Range

Liberty Electric Cars have pioneered the second generation of electric vehicle technology with its Liberty E-Range. Second generation electric vehicle architecture places the electric motor as close to the driven wheel as possible, driving through a reduction gear box as opposed to the first generation where the electric motor replaces the combustion engine and drives through a traditional gearbox/differential arrangement.

2011-03-22: Liberty Electric Cars lands large order for Scandinavia and Iceland —

Liberty Electric Cars has signed a memorandum of understanding with Icelandic company, Northern Lights Energy (NLE), for an order for 150 electric vehicles to be delivered across Scandinavia, Iceland and the Faroe Islands over the next four years. The order, one of the largest Liberty Electric Cars has received, has a value of around £24m.

2011-02-24: Liberty E-Range joins the Switch EV demonstration programme — Tim Lamb, general manager at Metrocentre takes delivery.

The pure electric Liberty E-Range has been delivered to Tim Lamb, general manager at Metrocentre and is joining the Switch EV demonstration programme, part of the Technology Strategy Board’s Ultra Low Carbon Vehicle Demonstrator programme; its usage across the North East will be monitored and evaluated, developing the market for new models and applications of electric vehicle.

The innovative British clean tech engeneering business Liberty Electric Cars has started selling its E-Range the the world’s first luxury high-performance Pure Electric 4x4 to be developed. The Liberty Electric E-Range is initially based on a Range Rover and is aimed at the family-size and luxury vehicle market.

2010-10-18: World’s First Pure Electric 4x4 joins new RAC Brighton to London Future Car Challenge —

The world’s first Pure Electric zero emission 4x4 will take part in the RAC Brighton to London Future Car Challenge. The Liberty Electric E-Range is the world’s first luxury high-performance Pure Electric 4x4 to be developed. Two examples will join around 50 other electric, hybrid and low-emission engined cars, light commercial vehicles and motorcycles on the pioneering 60 mile run from Brighton to London on Saturday 6 November.
